Travel Budget & Expense Calculator
How to Use the Travel Budget Calculator
Planning a trip can be stressful, especially when calculating costs across different global currencies. Our free Travel Budget & Expense Calculator helps you map out your daily and one-time expenses, and uses live market exchange rates to instantly show exactly how much money you need in your target destination.
Step-by-Step Guide:
- Step 1: Set Your Trip Details. Enter the total number of days you plan to travel. Then, select your Home Currency (how you are paying) and your Destination Currency (where you are going).
- Step 2: Enter Daily Expenses. Estimate how much you expect to spend per day on your hotel, food, local transport, and tourist activities. Enter these amounts in your Home Currency.
- Step 3: Enter One-Time Expenses. Add your fixed, one-time costs like airline tickets, visa fees, and travel insurance.
- Step 4: Calculate. Click the blue calculate button. The tool will multiply your daily expenses by your trip duration, add your fixed costs, and ping a live global exchange server to show your final budget in both currencies simultaneously!
Financial & Travel Disclaimer
This tool utilizes live, open-source market APIs (ExchangeRate-API) to provide real-time currency conversions. Because global exchange rates fluctuate constantly, the final translated destination budget is an estimate and may differ slightly from the rate your bank or credit card provider charges you at the time of purchase. We always recommend adding a 10% to 15% emergency buffer to any calculated travel budget to account for unexpected expenses or sudden market fluctuations.
